SPORT FUN RUN

Sport Fun Run
Saturday, September 27th from 3-6 pm  
Aragon High School Track


After-school sports are critical to the well-being of our children and our community, but they are not free. Hundreds of Bayside, Abbot, Borel and Bowditch children need your help and participation in the upcoming

Fun Run.  The Fun Run is the major annual fundraiser for the non-profit organization called S.P.O.R.T. that helps to fund after-school sports in our district.

 

Details and pledge forms will be sent home with your children this week. We will need 10 Bayside volunteers from 2:30-6:00 pm on Sept. 27th to collect pledge forms, hand out event t-shirts, and mark participant lap cards.  If you are willing to volunteer, please sign up ASAP by emailing Bayside parent Angela Lewis at angela.mueters@gmail.com.

Volleyball Meeting

All Bayside volleyball players need to bring a parent or guardian to the gym on Tuesday, September 16 at

5:30 p.m. All paperwork, jerseys and game schedules will be distributed on Tuesday in the gym. If you have any questions, please see Mr. Arzie.  

 

Volleyball practice will be on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday in the gym.

 

6th grade - 3:00 - 4:00 p.m.

 

7th and 8th grade - 4:00 -5:30 p.m.

 

First games will be on Thursday

 

6th grade @ 4:00 p.m.

7th grade @ 4:45 p.m

8th grade at 5:30 p.m.

Club 2720

The San Mateo Teen Program is holding monthly events that begin in September and end in May. Our events draw hundreds of middle school students from all over San Mateo.  Come and meet new friends, hang out with old friends, join in on Nintendo Wii competitions and dance all night to the Party DJ spinning the latest music in a cool and safe environment.

Time: 7:00pm - 10:00pm

Price: $10 in advance, $15 at the door

 

WHAT'S NEW @ CLUB 2720?

  • Photo Booth: $2 per picture
  • Pick up your VIP pass when you purchase your ticket. Attend all 5 events and you can gain entrance to the VIP room at the final event in May

How do I Purchase Tickets?
To purchase tickets and to get into the event, students must have a school ID or proof they attend a middle school in San Mateo. There are three ways to purchase tickets to Club 2720:

  1. Purchase them at Beresford or King Center during normal business hours. Tickets go on sale 1-2 weeks before each dance.
  2. Purchase them at the door the night of the event.  Please have a parent or legal guardian accompany you to the door to purchase and sign the ticket.
  3. If you are a Bayside Student, you may purchase your ticket on campus during lunch on the Thursday and Friday before each dance

Hillsdale High School

 

8th grade families with students planning to attend Hillsdale HS:

 

The Shadowing Program pairs 8th graders with a Hillsdale student and together they visit classrooms, meet faculty, hear about our programs, and participate in some of Hillsdale's activities. The day will begin at 7:40 am and students will be dismissed after lunch at 12:35 pm. Students are welcome to bring a lunch or purchase one at Hillsdale.  Hillsdale administrators will also be on hand to meet with any parents at a separate and brief meeting that morning to answer any questions. 

 

These are the days we will be hosting Shadowing this year:

  • Friday, October 17th  (Traditional calendar priority)
  • Tuesday, October 21st
  • Friday October 24th 
  • Tuesday October 28th
  • Friday, November 3rd

Hillsdale High School Shadowing 

 

 

D.Tech High School Open House Dates: 9/23, 10/2, 10/21 from 6:30 - 7:30 pm.

RSVP for all the d.tech High School details. After attending an open house event, 8th graders who attended will be sent an invitation to shadow at d.tech.   http://www.designtechhighschool.org/events/  Reservations are required and space is limited. This event is for current 8th graders and their families. Open houses for younger students will occur in the Spring.

 

Burlingame High School Panther Preview Day

(formerly "Shadow Day" for 8th Graders)

 

Burlingame HS Panther Preview Day (formerly known as Shadow Day) will be on Monday, November 3, 2014, 1:00-3:00 pm. Families will be able to sign up starting at 12:00 pm on Monday, October 6, 2014 through the posted link on the BHS front page. Our program is solely designed for 8th graders who currently live in the SMUHSD attendance boundary (Burlingame, Hillsborough, San Mateo, San Bruno, Millbrae, & Foster City) and are interested in attending BHS next year. BHS Panther Preview Day is for students only. Parents and students are welcome to visit BHS on High School Information Night on Wednesday, November 5, 2014, 6:30-8:30 pm.

Attention members of STEM dClub

Please finish your lunch before reporting to room 20 for club time.  6th Graders should choose to attend either Monday or Tuesday, but not both days.  Sign ups for Monday or Tuesday are posted outside room 20.  You do not need a pass if your name is on the list.   7th and 8th graders also do not need a pass to attend, so report to room 20 after you finished your lunch.

MATH PLACEMENT INFORMATION

The San Mateo-Foster City School District is working alongside the San Mateo Union High School District to establish math pathways for students in 6th – 12th grade in alignment with the Common Core State Standards (CCSS). The approved CCSS Math Pathways will be implemented at all our schools in the same manner to ensure equity and consistency of instruction and materials. The pathways allow opportunities for students to accelerate and support for students who may need more instruction to be successful. See the following documents for more information.

P.E. Uniforms

The P.E department has some extra youth sized shirts, shorts, sweats and sweatshirts.  If you still need to buy P.E clothes or exchange for a different size, please come by room 40 before or after school.
